À propos du livre
As we enter the third decade of the 21st century, we are met with an overwhelming sense of uncertainty about our collective futures and identities. With the important election year of 2020 before us in the United States, we wish to use this space to offer alternate ways of considering the idea of a “nation.” From peaceful utopias to unsettling technocratic states, A Brief History of Delta, presents a speculative society that exists across time in a colonized stratosphere.
Using design fiction to press the issue of what it means to live in a post-truth world, the book showcases “real” artifacts and “factual” accounts from this fictional nations. The publication takes the form of a guidebook, offering detailed records of a respective homeland—chronicling evolution, social unrest, customs, governments, design systems, and more. Within this narrative, it presents both the plausible and impossible, hoping to convey a taste of the many possibilities our future world(s) can hold.
