Antarctica, an icy continent with harsh winter conditions, where mean temperatures can drop to -57°C in the interior of the continent accompanied with gale force winds. Regardless of this, Antarctica is teeming with life. From ocean bound creatures to those that live both in and out of the water, signs of life can be seen everywhere.

This huge biodiversity was observed during a trip to Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula in February 2017. Some of the animals observed spend their winters in Antarctica, but many others come to Antarctica and its accompanying islands in the spring and summer to breed, molt and feed. The Antarctic waters are rich in krill, which attracts a variety of species whose main diet consists of this small crustacean.

This book provides a brief overview of the animals encountered during the voyage, including pictures and information about the animal.
