Paper & Ink is the accompanying catalog to the first annual exhibit of the Houston, Texas based arts organization, PrintMatters. This catalog presents original and mixed-media prints by the five founding members: Andis Applewhite, Vivian Hordes, Ann Johnson, Cathie Kayser, and Ruth Shouval. These artists have exhibited extensively, locally and nationally. Paper & Ink will be on exhibition at The Museum of Printing History in Houston, Texas from October 1, through January 23, 2010. PrintMatters was created to promote traditional and non-traditional printmaking, expand the Houston market of print collectors, and further the professional growth of its members.

Ann ‘Sole Sister’ Johnson is an artist who paints portraits with her feet. Yes her feet! Ann is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University in Texas, majoring in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Art. She has also received a Master’s of Arts degree in Humanities from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, as well as an MFA from The Academy of Art University with a concentration in printmaking. Primarily a mixed media artist, Ann’s passion for exploring issues particularly in the Black community has led her to create series’ of works that are evocative and engaging. Ann 'Sole Sister' Johnson lives in Houston, TX, and teaches art at Prairie View A&M University.
