The last 50 years have been a difficult time for the city of Liverpool and its people. It has lost its position as a major port and shipbuilder, lost up to 30% of its population and lost most of its engineering industry. But out of this devastation has risen a new vibrant city which is now looking confidently to the future while retaining much of its architectural and cultural heritage.
