À propos du livre
Street art is a growing part of the multi-dimensional culture of Los Angeles. Its power lies in its physical distance from traditional institutions. It does not require admission to view. It is authentic.
This book presents a compilation of street art encountered across Los Angeles between 2006 and 2016. The work is organized by neighborhoods, revealing differences in theme, aesthetic and vibe. Art in Pacoima reflects the heritage of the neighborhood. In downtown L.A., there are large available walls that attract mural artists. Some commissioned. Some not. The Alley Project in historic Filipinotown has turned "blight into bright".
Fascination with street art lies within the creation as well as the presentation of the art itself. This book does not provide words of interpretation and meaning. Those are left to the imagination of the viewer.
