In November 2015 and in February 2017 I walked with a group of Maasai people from Amboselli National Park to Kilonito Village. About 100 km in 6 days across rough Maasai Land. Walking and talking with the Maasai, learning about their way of living, their culture and the beautiful nature that is their home. Twice I had the privilege to join their lives for a week. An impressive experience that I find easier to describe in photos than in words.

With this photobook I want to give you an impression of their journey from childhood, herding the cattle and going to school to becoming warriors (marons) and growing up to be an elder. Joining up with women walking for miles to fetch water, take care of their children and becoming an elder.

On the last day lots of people from and near the manyatta of Ezekiel Ole Katato, our host, welcomed us. Women all dressed up with colourful jewellery. Warriors jumping. Lining up, they greeted us with a hundred handshakes. Dancing together.
It was an impressive and heart-warming welcome that I cherish in my heart. Looking at the photographs I still hear the singing of the women and the humming of the men.
