À propos du livre
A prosopography is “a collective study of the lives of persons or characters, especially their appearances, careers, personalities, etc., within a historical, literary, or social context.” Or, essentially, making up a story about the way a group of people lived that makes them make sense to us when there aren’t enough specifics to write an actual history. This is one of those about my family—who are fascinating but a mystery to me—weaving the fictions with the few stories I do know and the objects I have. Based on artifacts I collected when cleaning out my paternal grandmother’s house when she died in 2004, this book is a study in memoir writing and thinking, in not-knowing, in construction and translation.
This is the print version of Prosopography, which was originally made as a hardbound artist's book. The artist's book included blown-in handmade fake artifacts and a "bonus zine" tucked into the back. This print version incorporates the extra artifacts into the page design, and does not include the zine, which can be purchased separately or viewed in pdf on my website.
