Knight Inlet Lodge was moved to Glendale Cove in 1979 from Hoeya Sound where it had a long and glorious history as a ‘men’s only’ fishing lodge. Fishing for the giant Chinook and Coho salmon was some of the best on the west coast of British Columbia. This tradition continued in Glendale Cove until 1996 when the present owners, Dean and Kathy Wyatt, bought the Lodge and converted it to an eco, family friendly, wildlife viewing destination. Since then it has become one of B.C.’s premier resorts entertaining guests from around the world. The main attraction is now watching the coastal grizzly bears, black bears, eagles and the annual pink salmon run. There are of course many other birds and wildlife to see along with the whale watching tours, rainforest walks, and boat trips to see the magnificent scenery of Knight Inlet.



I first came in September 1998 to fish and witnessed one of Mother Nature’s major miracles; the end of the life cycle of the pink salmon. I watched the salmon swim up the river, through Knight Inlet to their birth place to lay their eggs and then die within a few days. I witnessed the great grizzlies play, splash, wrestle, fish and feast on salmon in the river.
