Pim Westerweel (1936) has been working as a photographer for 50 years and is also the initiator of the FotoFestival Naarden. He started as photographer in 1956. The ca. 700 photographs in this books, '54 years past - A photographic retrospective' part 1 and 2, have been arranged by date. He took his first photo in 1954 with his fathers plate camera. From 1960 till 1970 he work as photographer/filmmaker in the Zoo of Amsterdam, Artis. After 10 years in Artis, Westerweel was ready for a change and in the following years he worked as a sports photographer for different magazines. After this period he made a lot of portraits of celebrities and many photoreports for NOVIB etc.. His work includes many themes, but the focus is always on human beings, both inside and outside showbiz. Toward the end of the 80s, he started planning the biennial Naarden Photo Festival and in 1989 the first edition had become reality. During the tenth festival in 2007 he had a big exhibition with 165 photographs.
