The images and commentary in this book are the result of my attempt as a Caucasian to create work with a Japanese "sensitivity", blending Natural History with Zen philosophy. I apologize to readers of Japanese ancestry who may regard this work as a Caucasian's failed attempt to understand the Japanese perception of life and culture.
