À propos du livre
Americans endemically produce more of something than almost any other country in the
world. As a society that is driven by materialism–we love things. But what happens to
those things when we are done with them? This project explores something we all
literally throw away—our trash.
Rather than focusing on the amount of trash we produce, or who produces it, this
project centers solely on plain old discarded items. Yes, trash is known to be something
that can tell you a lot about a person, a community, or a society, but these photographs
inform about something far less complex, the trash itself.
Inevitably, every piece of the contents of these photographs will end up either in a landfill
or an incinerator. These photographs capture the trash in a beautiful and final way with
the knowledge that these items, which used to be important, will soon disappear into a
public heap forever. In these photos our trash will be bidding us farewell in motion and
full of its own kind of life.
