The 2008 recession trickled down and lingered in New Mexico two years later. Along with multiple world crises the mood and common consciousness was sad, anxious and bleak. Subjects were asked to wear neutral color clothing and to feel free to express their vulnerability in the midst of a troubled time. Word of mouth about the theme and project brought people to my studio. With that in mind I photographed subjects comfortable to be seen as having a common mood of malaise and a reason to express it. A bond was created in a setting and moment of trust.
