À propos du livre
Transitions
This book was created with the intention of demonstrating how a seaside town changes over one holiday season. I chose to capture images from February to August to demonstrate some of the subtle and not so subtle ways in which the seafront landscape differed throughout these key months.
Being a keen Street Photographer I tried to capture candid shots to illustrate this transition, not always successfully. Spotted. (Page 41).
Transitions can be meteorological, environmental and social. I hope I have captured a little of all three, though it is more apparent in some categories than others.
Lowestoft was traditionally a fishing community but now relies heavily on the tourist industry. Its amenities are also enjoyed year round by the local population. (Page 35) This summer however, there was a lot of disturbance to the seafront as "Phase 2 of the Lowestoft South Beach Coastal Works" got underway. Work was planned from May to September and other Phases beyond this time scale.
All my landscape images were captured between the South Pier and Pakefield Beach and were taken in February, April, May, June and August, though it is sometimes difficult to spot the month from the image. In fact the last few images taken on August Bank Holiday Monday seem to be heralding in the onset of the cooler and wetter weather for Autumn.
