An unseen journey of sense, the beauty veil of the body


Indonesia is a country that has thousands of culture, the eastern country that values the existing norms. The women also play the important part in the culture. Especially in Indonesia, we clearly can see the way people see the woman body, from its function and aesthetic sides, without any judgment and punishment. Being born and raised in Indonesia, I’ve been trying to capture this beauty and summarize the woman’s identity from urban society in Indonesia.
The variety of body shapes in this book will bring your imagination and perception to the different level, into something that far beyond your current belief about beauty, especially the beauty of body. Nudity doesn’t always have to be acknowledging as pornography. For a country that is still upholding the social norms, just like Indonesia, nude photography is usually being judged as an anomalous art form. Therefore, generally the nude photography photographer doesn’t appear and doing the art anonymously.
I try to visualize the sense journey in catching this disclosure to the public, to open the discussion about art celebration of body and make the photograph audience redefine the meaning of beauty. You will see the beauty in shapes, shadow, body lines, and story from the inside and outside the body itself.
Every picture subject in this book is incredible woman from different background who doesn’t work as a professional model. Their trust becomes the important point in the making process. While people are so busy for being suspicious and judgmental for something personal and private, these women trust their body, shame, their diffidence, pride, and every essence in them to be captured by the lense.
