À propos du livre
Our proposal for the UK Pavilion for the Shanghai Expo 2010 challenges the way we perceive our cities. This came from our observation that there is a misled preconception of an idealised differentiation between our urban and rural environment and of how our modern life is overwhelmed by speed and our image obsessed culture. We believe this distinction is in fact ambiguous and focus instead in our common sensual experience of space.
Building on the slogan ‘Better City, Better Life’, the pavilion reintegrates an emotional sensibility in how we read our cities through the layering of narratives and its tectonic structure.
This report documents the process and thoughts that lead to the final proposal for Group 12’s Expo Pavilion.
