À propos du livre
Steve Waller wrote a very nice poem concerning this book:
Fragments of Unforgettable Moments
By Steve Waller
[A tribute to Richard ChauDavis’s Mostly Square Artifacts 2013]
Sometimes my memories are as crystal clear as the moment they happened
as if the video is still on record
or the film is still developing, becoming even more vivid with time (Anatomy, Being Male).
Sometimes I can recall almost every detail, yet I couldn’t say for sure
as a witness in a court of law
if it was a mole or a freckle on her naked back (Oofla).
Sometimes the memories are in motion ( Workout, Splits)
and it’s a mixed up blur (I Am Happy…, Happy People)
or is it my brain can’t decide what really happened
and presents impossible amalgams (Bridgett and Bridgett 2)?
Sometimes only a single striking element stands out
The tongue!
like a gold nugget memory in my brain pan
the very essence of what makes the memory unforgettable (Clowning Around).
More and more often
I’m finding the memories are fading
until there’s only disintegrating fragments (Two Friends, Three of Us)
an echo of a thought (Whisper)
or little more than a general concept remaining (Woman Holding Cantaloupe)
slipping away into crumpled lost ideas even though I struggle to hold on to that beautiful moment (Thinking).
All the more reason to make more
Unforgettable moments! (Fate)

À propos du créateur
Richard ChauDavis graduated from the College of Creative Studies, UCSB, in 1979 with a BA in painting and drawing. Richard took up art photography. Initially Richard did focused shoots trailing a person through their day, After moving to San Diego Richard created a ‘Dark Space’ set in his garage He showed resulting work mostly at SDAI. The Dark Space went through several permutations. Along the way were several regional shows at SDAI, a one person show, charity events, etc. Eventually the darkroom was shutdown and the art went digital (thanks Vann). A one person show at Flazh!Alley in San Pedro. Current work has been shown locally at Ray Street, ‘The Art of Digital Show’, ‘UA Art Guild’, ‘The Garage’, ’ ‘Pajama Party’ with Laura Mappin', ‘Vacancy II’; ‘Vacancy 3, The Kitchen’; ‘I Caught You Peeking 2’ (Garage); Tainted Milk Project’; One Person Show at SDAI titled ‘Old, Tainted, Trashed and Recycled’; ArtGymsSD at Larry’s Garage and then at SDAI (with Roberta Kuntz).
