The photos in this book show my efforts in modeling specific prototype locomotives. This is not a “how to” book, but rather photos of the finished models. All models are plastic—not brass, and all were built before we had the plethora of detail parts, or the well detailed pre-decorated models that we have today. Most of the models were built as of the specific date on which I photographed the prototype, something that is rarely done by model builders. While my locomotive detailing is considered extreme by some, several of the models presented herein are definitely extreme detailing, even by my standards—detailing beyond all reasonable common sense. I certainly don’t claim to be the best locomotive modeler, but I do consider myself to be among the best of the best. I hope you enjoy looking at the models. Railroads featured are Burlington Northern, Rio Grande, Union Pacific, Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Conrail, and Sacramento Northern. There are also 2 photos of a CF7 I custom built for the Grand Truck & Indiana model railroad, owned by Russ Rettig. The book ends with 14 photos of some of the freight cars I have built.
