À propos du livre
The Defence Arts Therapy Centre provides therapeutic and artistic catharsis for returned service men and women. The project formally extends Bather’s Way through an archaeological approach to its architecture. The DATC acknowledges the violence and histories involved with conflicts and their influences, both tangible and intangible, on public space.
The DATC’s rhythmic timbers and subtle upward journey, alongside internalised forms and spaces for prospect promote the negotiation of introspection, outlook and communal experience. Sited to rehabilitate the exhausted Shepherd’s Hill defence bunker, the therapy centre addresses the historical, political and social responsibilities of all – veterans, families, communities and nations.
