À propos du livre
Gary Metz (1941-2010) was one of the more unique photographic educators of the last 30 years. During his time at a number of select photography programs he influenced a great number of photographers, artists and educators. He was also a photographer. The book, "Quaking Aspen: A Lyric Complaint" contains eighty plus images which were chosen from approximately seven hundred printed photographs found in Gary's darkroom. The book is set out as forty paired images; "...a sequence of diptychs", as Gary envisioned; an attempt at honoring the concepts of series and sequences that so concerned his thoughts. The photographs were created in and around Aspen, Colorado over a three decade period stretching from the 1970's through the 1990's. Additionally included are four essays written by Gary about landscape and photography.
