À propos du livre
BIRDS OF AMERICA investigates the idea of sighting (and consequently the gaze), as it can pertain to the problematic location of queer identities in contemporary culture. BIRDS OF AMERICA is based on the 100 plates in the first volume of the similarly titled print portfolio by John James Audubon. The project will also incorporate text posts from the online site Craig’s List which describe missed connections between gay men in cities across the United States.
BIRDS OF AMERICA seeks to conceptually and visually resolve two sets of artifacts in order to surface the dialectic shifts between the watcher and the watched.
