À propos du livre
The Avery Homestead is the oldest home in Ledyard, CT and was built about 1696 by William Morgan, husband of Margaret Avery. Until 2004 there had been an Avery living in the Homestead, passed down for nearly three hundred years, from father to oldest son, except on one occasion when a generation was skipped, as the oldest son had died -- the story goes, of a broken heart. The men and women that molded and changed the Homestead had the foresight to preserve, hand down, and keep in the homestead many of the original household items, deeds and artifacts. The Avery Homestead includes a history of the homestead; architectural drawings of the various periods; an explanation of what life would have been like on the farm; descriptions of some interesting items that were in the house; and biographies of the owners. This 152-page book, with more than 200 photographs, documents and architectural drawings, represents a compilation of years of research by many individuals.
