This book is about the journey through the first year of setting up a business on my own. Having spent many years in the corporate world with all of it's red tape, processes and management battles, this book is a journey of discovery, learning, ups and downs and sheer joy of having the time to think.

I set out to share my experiences so that others could benefit from them and just maybe, have the nerve to make that leap of faith to go out on their own.

It's a different world out here, not so many e-mails or time wasted in meeting after meeting but, most importantly time to think.

On the 1st January 2007 Rob Wright established his new company “diverse notion” which is focused on the development of innovation in the workplace and the interactive engagement of users. This follows 20+ years of experience in office design within the corporate world and in design practices. He joined ABN AMRO in February 2002 as Global Head of Workplace Strategy, developing initiatives to deliver space efficiencies throughout the global portfolio. During this time the team identified significant saving opportunities through standard measurement practices and setting strategic targets in the office environment. Key focus is now directed towards developing desk sharing concepts and delivering greater functionality fit, through engagement with users. In July 2004, the Global Property & FM Services team won the RICS Occupation Management Award. In 2007 Rob was awarded the CoreNet Global UK “Real Estate Executive of the Year 2007” for his contribution to workplace strategy.
