À propos du livre
Within the flat, stretching fenlands of Ely in the South East of England lies the small village of Barway, home to one of the UK’s largest migrant communities working within the horticultural sector. The thousands of people employed by G’s company come from eastern European countries such as Lithuania, Bulgaria, Romania and Poland.
They travel to the UK in order to work in a temporary capacity and return home with their salaries, often to be used for course fees, to support their families or to get married. The amount they receive in England far exceeds what they would expect to get in their native country. As a documentary photographer, I am passionate about exploring diverse communities. I have been fortunate that G’s company has willingly opened its doors to me and allowed me to document the employees and their daily lives.
