À propos du livre
The book is divided into two parts. The first part is images based on mathematical formulas
applied to four surfaces of a cube. The whole process began as a challenge from an instructor based on my response to an assignment. My original solution had been elegantly simple; his challenge was to increase the number of
variables.
The second part is figurative images, based on line drawings that were digitized on a drafting table modified with internal sensors to record cursor movements. This was a result of
reimbursement, using ‘computer dollars’ by the faculty, for lost photographs which allowed me continued use of the computer even though I was no longer a student.
The figurative drawings became the basis for a series of paintings and have been documented in a book, Night Visions from Laputa.
The book was originally compiled as a 35th
anniversary project in 2009.

À propos du créateur
The world presents itself and I observe. There are times the observation becomes an obsession. Sometimes, a casual encounter. These moments become the photographs I interpret by exaggeration or simplification. I have been an exhibitor since 1969; exhibiting photographs, painting and prints through 150 exhibitions, primarily in US university, college, and community galleries in 31 American States; in BC, Alberta, Ontario and in web galleries in Canada, Australia, China, Thailand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy and the United States. I now publish books of current and past projects as a means of closure and completion. Born and educated in Alberta, I moved to the coast in 1984, and have been living in Victoria since 1986. .
