À propos du livre
Gold Coast, Australia and Tennessee and Nevada, USA,
1999 - 2005.
A record of the architecture, stains, decoration, and transient nature of the motel world. Through exploration of space, mood, and light the viewer is drawn into the scene and is asked to ponder “if these wall could talk”. This work is also a record of a place in time. Many of the motels pictured have already been demolished to make way for high density, high-rise, homogeneous accommodation.
As a visual storyteller I investigate and document the everyday. My photographs concentrate on the extraordinary element of the ordinary rather than simply extraordinary stories of life.
These images are studies of people’s lives, the human condition and their context in the world. The images record an energy, a physical make up and the human traces resonating in built spaces.
