REMEMBER WHEN is an annotated oral history covering the first 30 years of the life of Marie Mitchell as well as touching on family history over the 100 years between 1861 and 1961.

The period from 1861 to 1961 was a time of great, sweeping changes, not only in the United States, but around the world. The American Civil War, WW1 and WWII, the great influenza pandemic of 1918, the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, the Korean War, and the economic boom of the post-war years make this one of the most consequential centuries in human history.

Alongside the turmoil of global change, REMEMBER WHEN tells the the stories of everyday people who overcame blizzards, droughts, hailstorms, and wars, who raised their families and passed along a sturdy optimism to later generations.

More than just a personal memoir, REMEMBER WHEN chronicles the intersecting lives of the Kennicotts, Bairds, Olesens, and Mitchells, from the Civil War through the post-war 1950's. Along the way we meet some of the rich and famous of their day, including two Presidents. The heart of the stories is always the little details of everyday life in a time now nearly forgotten.
