International airports cater for millions of passengers every year. Therefore, it may be a surprise to find out there is no internationally

standardised system in place to guide these people around the airport complex effectively.



The study in this book hopes to change that with a system called ISANS (International Standardisation of Airport Navigational Systems). ISANS focuses on how a carefully

developed set of icons can be combined with type to present a clear visual aid to those who are trying to find their way around the airport environment.
