À propos du livre
Beam engine houses are an iconic reminder of the rich industrial heritage of a Cornwall, county that is now primarily thought of as a tourist destination. Many of these engine houses are preserved in a fairly stable condition. Others are falling into a state of advanced decay. It is easy to forget that this was once the richest mining area in the world and that the technologies developed here were exported, along with the expertise, to all corners of the globe. This book is an attempt to capture images of not only the well known ones but also, more importantly, those that are off the beaten track and in some cases almost inaccessible in woodland and undergrowth. There are many very good books on the topic but these are mostly text supported by small images. This book is image heavy supported by a small amount of hopefully relevant text.
