This book of photographic impressions is a compilation of leaf studies taken in Kansas City, Missouri, in the fall of 2009. It is a celebration of the ephemeral nature of color and form, of the way that life blooms into and fades out of our awareness, always and forever.
Fall foliage in the Midwest is usually quite beautiful, but as I rediscovered on a walk with my wife in early November, many of the individual fallen leaves are quite simply astonishing. That revelation found both of us revisiting our respective childhoods, as, like third graders we began oohing and aahing -- dashing here and there picking up every leaf that caught our eye.
I hope that in viewing these images, you too will find yourself experiencing the awe and wonder of a child.
