The ocean, for me, is a symbol of the eternal rhythm of being. Its unending wave patterns suggest the infinite possibilities of the universe. Painting the ocean is an ever changing experience and challenge. I often go to the Southeast Florida beaches to paint studies. The light and the rapid shifting movement of the waves constantly alter the colors and the forms. I translate my pleine aire experience and emotional response to the sea in my studio paintings. Exploring the viscosity of oil paint and a variety of mark making best express my response to the power and energy of our environment, always arousing an excitement of interactive color.
