MicroPast was founded in 2025 by Gordon van Zuiden. MicroPast focuses on the detailed study of small units of research, such as individual lives, specific businesses, unique locations or immersive travel adventures. These detailed micro history stories emphasize depth over breadth, providing a nuanced understanding of history and travel through rich, contextual analysis. Gordon founded Micropast based on the passion that he has to explore unique historical stories in places where he has lived, worked or travelled, especially Los Gatos, Capitola, San Francisco and Paris, France. These stories are the culmination of working with fellow historians, online research, and in person interviews - weaving together rich, detailed, unique stories about people and events that have rarely been brought to life.
