Artist Anne Diggory presents the works in her exhibition "Near and Far" at Blue Mountain Gallery. "The compositions that combine the close-by with the far-away are a celebration of the complexity of relationships seen, felt and painted. Additionally, the act of painting itself creates a tension between the near-at-hand surface and the evocation of a magical world of space, light and energy. The exhibition focuses on my artwork of the natural world, which continues to inspire me, often as a refuge. The paintings are based on close observation but not mimicry, with a preference for dynamic instability, sometimes barely contained. That restlessness of the expression has been increasing in recent years.
