À propos du livre
Fragile Innocence is a celebration of Photographer Werner Bischof’s work. In his short career, Bischof was able to earn unquestionable placement in the pantheon of great photographers of his generation.
His incisive look at childhood seems to always direct us to the tenuous thread on which innocence depends. At once, his vision also offers a great aperture and allowance, without judgments, for spectators to decide for themselves.
In granting this freedom, Bischof also seems to adjudicate a responsibility to be shared by all, regarding what may be material to the content of his images.
Broadly speaking, this paradoxical character to his work, always directing and also allowing, permeates the whole of Bischof’s photography, in all of its thematic axes. On these bases, lays the suggestive power of his photographic gaze and vision.
