The protagonist is the humpback whale, a cetacean that sometimes jumps into the air from the water, opening the “great wings” that give it its name, its long pectoral fins, as if it were for an instant no longer a mammal but a bird.

Andrea Izzotti is a freelance writer and photographer. As a hunter of emotions, he is passionate about travel, nature, and the outdoors. In pursuit of these passions, he has visited some of the most remote and extraordinary places on the planet. His photographs have been published in various books, magazines, and exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Andrea has written several photographic journey books covering a variety of enigmatic wildlife and stunning landscapes. He is the proud recipient of the 2011 National Geographic Italy Award and the winner of the Asferico Photocontest 2019. In 2021, he was awarded the Muse Awards Photographer of the Year in the United States.
