À propos du livre
This collection of poems offers playful and lyrical language, provocative insights into painful histories and harsh realities. This work derives from attention to nature’s small and fleeting gifts, courageous confrontation of dark moments, and mining for meaningfulness of being. These poems beckon gratitude even when hopelessness looms large. Save Yourself is an invitation to breathe deeply, smile warmly, weep generously, broach new perspectives, greet each day with eyes and hearts wide open, and especially to know hope returns often and inevitably.
À propos du créateur
Patricia Fowler Keoughan earned a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Iowa State University. She taught at Iowa State University and the University of South Alabama, maintained a clinical practice specializing in couples’ therapy, and served as a human systems consultant to businesses and professional organizations. During childhood her family moved more times and to more places than she can recall. Born in Mobile, Alabama, memories of Lower Alabama, as well as central and southern Florida, are among her most vivid. It is often those memories that evoke poems of place, nature, and serenity. Those places are also evocative of dark experiences of her own life and of recently uncovered unsettling histories of ancestors.
