This book has been made to thank Charlie Bird for his work and friendship with the LGBTQ+ family in Ireland. Charlie made a unique contribution to the campaign for Marriage Equality in 2015. After chairing the launch of the campaign in the Rotunda in March, he travelled the country hosting town hall meetings. The ‘I’m Voting Yes - Ask Me Why’ tour brought the Yes campaign to local halls, and communities, encouraging and connecting with people all over Ireland. Following the resounding Yes vote, Charlie then wrote a book of personal stories ‘A Day in May’, which also became a play. His work means those stories are forever on the public record.
