À propos du livre
The urge to create is universal. During the preschool years this urge is likely to be intense, however, the creative spirit inherent in every child needs to be encouraged if his or her free expression is to survive. When I encourage participants in a workshop to explore and express their creativity through the medium of photography I am hoping that they will embrace their own definition of creativity, and use it as a vehicle to learn, grow, and share who they are with others.
The word creativity characterizes many things. For me, creativity is discovering, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, and making mistakes. True creativity should be fun, uninhibited and inspired. It doesn't impose ridiculous limitations such as having everything in sharp focus or producing what one perceives as perfect works of art. The bottom line here is that creativity should be enjoyed!
When it comes to visual expression, some of the best examples of imagination, fantasy, and creativity can be found in the student portfolios presented in this book. Made during a young photographers summer camp the week of August 10th to 14th, 2009, the fresh vision of these young photographers serves to recharge and stimulate our creative perspective and to a considerable degree, restores our attitude towards embracing creativity.
It is my hope that students leave the workshop with a new way of seeing the everyday world around them and will continue to develop their skills and explore their creativity throughout their life.
