À propos

Fo Wilson uses the language of furniture to investigate ideas around identity and culture and to re-present histories that counter dominate Western historical narratives. Using furniture forms and objects that she often integrates with other media such as sound and video, she creates experiences that reposition historical objects and/or aesthetics in a contemporary context and offer audiences new ways of thinking about and interacting with history. Ms. Wilson graduated with an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design’s Furniture Design program in 2005 with a concentration in Art history, Theory and Criticism. She is currently an Associate Professor of Art in the Art + Design Department at Columbia College Chicago. Her furniture-based work is exhibited widely, and her design work is included in the collection of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. Her writing has appeared in Nka Journal of Contemporary African Art and the International Review of African American Art.
