À propos du livre
A collection of photographs documenting the remains of the now abandoned huts built to provide temporary homes for the hop pickers of Kent. The photographs capture the last chapter in the long history of a once vibrant industry; one that employed thousands of itinerant workers from London. With the demise of the industry in the 1970s, the evidence of its social history is gradually rotting back into the ground or becoming obscured by other uses and abuses. The book features photographs taken over several years to record the traces of this social history lingering in peeling wallpaper and rusty corrugated iron. The images were exhibited at Trinity Gallery in Tunbridge Wells in 2010 and Mascalls Gallery, Paddock Wood in 2011
