À propos du livre
The Tamaques Elementary School Murals in the long "Fine Arts Hallway", a selection of which this book presents, are faux murals painted on paper and permanently glued to the walls with tapestry glue and polyurethane. Built of segments of loosely connected paintings they point to artists and artistic expression in the tradition of 20th century modernist painting and illustration.
Surrounding children with art in their everyday environment nourishes their ability to meet the challenges in their lives with artistic means and communicates that freedom, independence, imagination and creative expression are valued. The murals at Tamaques Elementary School and this book are a joyful celebration of children's ingenuity and independent spirit.
À propos du créateur
The artist and author is a lawyer, and artist and a writer. She studied painting with the Belgian painter Roger Servais at the art school Etage in Berlin parallel to attending law school at the FU Berlin, acquired her law degrees and - with an artist's logic - relocated to New York City in 1997. Her work brings together the mandates of art and law by teaching and educating both fields as instruments for a self-directed, meaningful life. Her art project Circus Utopia Art Press is a cooperation with young artist from both Germany and the US to foster self-confidence and the establishment of hope for addressing environmental and humanitarian issues in a peaceful way.
