À propos du livre
Relationships are all around us
In nature, we often see relationships explicitly; bees pollinating flowers, climbers sprawling over trees, foxes hunting rabbits. However, many relationships are hidden, surreptitiously bringing form, colour, texture and beauty to the world. It is not about the individual element, but the joining of the two that signifies cycles of interdependence, co-habitation or destruction. Symbiosis, predation, parasitism.
The inspiration for the pots in this book comes from these relationships seen in nature. Yet, people are part of nature and we are also continually building relationships with our surroundings. These interactions are shaped by the way we view or see nature – degraded, commodified, sacred. The photos in this book invite the viewer to reflect on the place of nature in their own world. Where does it belong in your mind?
Jay Mistry is a ceramic artist and Matthew Simpson is a photographer. This is their first artistic collaboration.
