À propos du livre
The Association of Sewing an Design Professionals (ASDP) was privileged to honor Betty Kirke with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 in recognition of her life's work. As a capstone to a long career in fashion, Ms Kirke was inspired to teach, and bring recognition to, the exceptional work of Madeleine Vionnet. ASDP members used the opportunity of the award as a learning tool for great craftsmanship and honored Ms. Kirke by bringing the patterns from her famous book, Vionnet, to life in the same half scale as Madeleine Vionnet created them. Vionnet Identique represents the best work of ASDP couturiers and serves to educate and inform all members about the construction and design skills that have been passed down from master couturiers to the chroniclers of history, and now to new generations. Each model shown in this collection has been faithfully recreated from the descriptions and dimensions of Betty Kirke's research on the work of Madeleine Vionnet. The models appear in this journal in the same order they appear in Ms. Kirke's book.
