À propos du livre
This is the second edition which contains revisions I made to the first edition. Only a limited number will be signed and numbered.
In Transaegean, I take Virgil's The Aeneid, a famous work of the Western canon, and diversifying it. I populate the myth focused on heroes and gods into a story starring underprivileged people instead. The characters in Transaegean are people of color who are living in poverty, set in a near-contemporary future that is a grim, polluted landscape. I am creating the juxtaposition of retelling a high work of the Western canon into a low genre of art, comic art. These oppositions are meant to create conversation concerning why high and low art and class systems exist; ultimately, how much our view on ourselves is affected by these factors. Human feelings such as shame and despair are examined in this work, aspiring to present how our emotional responses can reveal our own biographies.
