À propos du livre
When you’re walking down Roosevelt, it’s not unlikely to hear an “Hola!” from Carlos, while he sits outside of Lola drawing. Over the years Carlos has become an integral part of the fabric of Roosevelt Neighborhood in downtown Phoenix. He is technically homeless, but his charisma says otherwise. Roosevelt is his home.
You’ll usually find Carlos with a sketchbook and pencil in hand, a small portable radio at his side. He draws incessantly, often covering an entire table with sprawling piles of drawings. Drawing helps him stay grounded and present, he says, or else he’s easily lost in thoughts.
This zine is a small collection of his work. It’s a glimpse into the mind of a man that may appear to have less than most, but somehow finds happiness and riches where most would find despair. We hope you enjoy his work as much as we do, and encourage you to share it with others.
All proceeds from the sale of this zine go to help support Carlos.
