À propos du Ebook
Comment by The Lord Mayor of Dublin:
“The Liffey Bridges” provides a remarkable view of our City. I wish to congratulate Frank and thank him for his wonderful contribution for recording in such an attractive fashion the bridges over the River Liffey.
The author and photographer, Frank Barr, was clearly inspired by the subject matter. I am sure that the wonderfully captured images of the bridges will in turn inspire the reader for whom crossing the River Liffey will take on a whole new meaning.
Cllr. Emer Costello
Lord Mayor of Dublin
This much needed book is a beautiful pictorial record of all of the bridges crossing Dublin's River Liffey along the line of the quays from east to west, as they appear at the end of the first decade of the new millennium. That decade saw huge development in Dublin with extensive development along the quays and a further shift of axis to the east of the city with residential, social and commercial development occurring on what used to be a deserted wasteland of old warehouses and disused docks.
There are currently seventeen bridges crossing the Liffey along the quays, six of which were built since 1977. An eighteenth is due before 2011.
Seen at their best, in twilight, this book also provides a brief history of each bridge combined with a description of their current use. All the photographs are authentic with minimal digital processing and were taken either at ground or river level as a visitor to Dublin might experience them.
An exhibition of the photographs from this book will be held in Charleville Mall Library Dublin starting April 24 2010
