The author writes from the perspective of his essential age of seven. He is concerned with the sounds and rhythms conveyed to the reader-listener and the story is an attempt to reduce complex parts of experience to their essentials. He explores his potential to experience the world with all its dangers and wonders and to live with the recognition of the limitations imposed by the world.
