À propos du livre
America's involvement in WWII had just begun when an 18-year-old named Murray Meadows was suddenly drafted as a welder into the 1007th Special Service Unit Engineer Battalion and sent to Burma India to build the Ledo Road connecting the Burma Road to China. He vividly compares the jungle of Burma with that of the Okefenokee Swamp of South Georgia where he hunted and trapped as a seven year old boy. It is also a book about a teenager coming of age at the end of The Great Depression and how he dealt with life after returning home from the war.

I have been fortunate to have served as editor for two very interesting people. One was my mother-in-law, Iris Hopkins and the other was Sgt Murray Meadows. Iris' book is about her memories of growing up during the Great Depression, and Murray's book is about his adventures while helping build the Ledo Road in Burma during WWII. I have led a dual life serving 28 years as a combat engineer in the National Guard and USAR, and as a secondary science teacher. In addition to these two books I have written numerous articles for educational magazines and amateur radio journals such as QST, and CQ.
