À propos du livre
Thierry Falisse (born 1973) is a Belgian multi-disciplinary artist : mainly painting, but also sculpture, photography and video.
For several years, he explores through images that he makes the subject of memory and remembrance, which becomes impaired, wilts over time. At the time, he spontaneously interested in this topic because it was a subject that firstly intimately spoke to him and secondly, appealed to the lives of everyone.
Images that fade, confused people who tend to disappear, empty landscapes, sometimes personal photos, documents, memories of family or recovered in car-boot sales, intimate images of missing persons...
In continuation of this work about memory, he became interested in old photo albums and videos
"Super 8" from the meeting between his parents in Korea's 50 years. Real gold mine and inspiration, he attempted to transpose his feelings between his origins and childhood memories resulting from a bicultural education and the images of a family past.
His interest quickly turned to contemporary Korea, particularly Seoul where he visited last summer. He left of the traces of the past with a Canon 5D Mark III, he wanted to walk on these places so familiar so he contemplated the old photos, meet a family previously unknown, and discover this country of contrasts between tradition and ultra-modernity.
