À propos du livre
A project based on connection and experience with the unnatural landscape that has been carved out by humans. I aim to glorify these monumental heaps of industry and detach the negative stigma left behind from the industrial revolution in central Scotland.
Physically walking the unnatural world of a bing and marking new pathways with string or salt act as a way to record the new surfaces discovered. A line through the bing representing an explorative mapping journey on the bing from starting point to finish.
As I walk these pathways through the bing I resemble the blight of the bing. I embody the essence of a score on this newfound world. My body interacts with the bing I become the score and intertwine into the bings surface and land. I glorify these monumental heaps with stances of power and worship to help show the appreciation and admiration I have for these waste heaps and the former inhabitants of the bing.
Walking these lands and the steep ascent and descent of these bings offer the same connection of staking a victorious climb to the top of a mountain. Much like the first climb on Everest a stake was struck into the mountain.
I aim to glorify these bings by scaling on top of these monumental heaps and embody a former world and time where these bings were building and serving a greater good for the wider communities in Scotland and further a field.
