À propos du livre
This is a final project assignment for a design student who has been inspired by surrealist artworks in life.
The concept is to illustrate a children’s book with a character that has been with me for a long time.
Influenced by surrealism and dream like symbolism, I originally started drawing this character in surreal landscapes when learning printmaking. One of my first images was used for making lithography prints, the ability to make washes and draw on lithography stones coupled with the technical skills of printing lent to the dream like quality of the narrative.
The story is a search for creativity, where my character wanders through landscapes that are symbolic of the artist’s work, each of the landscapes have a character which offers advice on how they are creative. The end/moral of the story is that my character eventually realises that creativity comes from within and she has her own!
